A New Obsession

For weeks now Andrina has been watching "Finding Nemo" almost daily, well parts of it anyways when we are in the car. Over the past week we've taken trips to the children's museum, my mom's house and a birthday party all of which were about an hour away, each part of the trip so she's seen all of it several times this week. I think she may have seen enough for awhile because today I heard her talking to herself; reciting lines from it:
"That's not funny and I know funny, I'm a clownfish"!

Andrina's 1st Official Easter Egg Hunt

Tom and I took Andrina to her first Easter Egg Hunt today through the park district. I told her about it yesterday and she went to sleep last night and woke up this morning telling me how she was going to "go on egg hunt"! Such happiness and excitement and staple of childhood. Andrina could barely eat breakfast this morning she was so excited about it.

Of course, she loved it! She got over a dozen eggs with chocolate in them and one had a ticket for a free open play at jumpzone and another egg had a prize ticket in it. Andrina turned in the ticket and got a plush chicken that makes noises when you press its belly. She had so much fun this morning and had to take her new plush toy with her for her nap this afternoon. Here's our pictures:

Andrina's Computer

Like most only and oldest children, Andrina is more mature than her age-mates. She loves trying to "work" on mine or Tom's computers. Well yesterday I saw in a sale ad that there was a brand name pre-school laptop "computer" with a mouse for only $15. I looked it up online and it's gotten good reviews. So today after Andrina's Gymboree play class, we went to the store and bought her one. She has been playing with it non-stop today. Although she knows all of the alphabet, and can name every letter and numeral, which half of what this computer teaches, I think it will be a good educational and enjoyable toy for her. And she just loves being able to "work" on her own computer like Momma and Dada do!
I love the serious expression on her face in this picture!

Big Day for Learning

I am so proud of my little Andrina. Not only did she independently and coherently sing the entire alphabet several times today, she recited some of the "lyrics" from one of her new favorite books. Andrina is taken with the book "Baby Beluga" and here are the lines she recited, all on her own:
"Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea"
"Swim so wild and you swim so free"
"Heaven above and the sea below"
"And a little white whale on the go"
"You're just a little white whale on the go"

I'm going to have to get her to the Shedd Aquarium soon so she can see the real baby beluga there. I know she'll love that!

First Day of Spring...

....or the last day of winter? According to the calender, today is the first official day of spring. Too bad the weather does not agree with that! Come on spring! How I love you and have missed you! Come back please....

oh well, at least Andrina enjoyed playing in the snow...

Once Upon a Time...

Andrina sat down with a book about rabbits today. Here's what we said:
Andrina: "Once upon a time there was a rabbit" (while opening the book)
Me: "What did the rabbit do"
Andrina: "The bunny when hop, hop, hop"

I think that is pretty amazing, she's only 2 and 1/2 years old and making her own stories!
