Kitty Says "Meow"
Tonight while getting Andrina ready for bed, I pointed out to her that her jammies have kitties on them and that "kitty says meow". Well, Tom and I both swear that Andrina was trying to say "meow" and imitate the kitty sound! It came out like an "ow" sound! This is so cute! And I'm happy to say that this milestone is a little early, I've read that babies try to imitate animal sounds at 12 months old or later. Ok, it's not that early as Andrina will be 1 year old in less than a week but I am so proud of her! Here's Andrina saying "meow" in this picture:
This joins the other "words" that Andrina has said: "da" for Daddy and "ba" for ball and bear. Do those one syllable utterances count as words? I think so.

Aww! So CUTE! Yes, they count as words. On testings and stuff a word counts if she uses the same sounds everytime to indicate the same object. So if once she said "Ba" for bear and the next time said "Ma" that one time would not count as a word. But if she always says "Ba" for Bear it counts. Good for her!
(Here's a little side note for your FYI-saying Mommy or Daddy do not count toward her word count. Saying Mama or Dada (or some variation) is actually a seperate milestone she is supposed to achieve between 9-12 months. Interesting huh? Probably because we parents hold them for about 10 hours a day at 10 months old and say "Say Mama! Say Mama!" :))
